1. Identify the problem to treat
Choosing a cartridge starts with what you want to remove: particles (sand, rust, sediment), taste and odour (chlorine), or scale and corrosion.
2. Choose the technology
- Sediment (wound or meltblown): retains sand, rust and suspended particles. Micron rating from 1 to 150 µm depending on the desired fineness.
- Activated carbon: reduces chlorine, unpleasant tastes and odours.
- Anti-scale (polyphosphate / silico-polyphosphate): protects against limescale and corrosion.
- Washable: reusable mesh for coarse sediment, economical and eco-friendly.
3. Choose the micron rating
The lower the micron rating, the finer the filtration — but the higher the pressure drop and the faster the cartridge clogs. A 20–50 µm pre-filter followed by 1–5 µm polishing is often the best compromise.
4. Choose the size
Cartridges come in standard sizes from 5" to 40", in mini, reduced or jumbo versions, compatible with the matching filter housings. Check the flow rate required by your installation.
